About the LSP Association

The LSPA is the non-profit association, founded in 1993, for Licensed Site Professionals (“LSPs”) and related practitioners. LSPs are the scientists, engineers, and public health specialists licensed by the Commonwealth to work on behalf of property owners, operators, and other involved parties to oversee the assessment and cleanup of oil and hazardous materials released to the environment. These sites include multi-acre urban brownfields, roadside spills, “mom and pop” gas stations and dry cleaners, and everything in between.

Our 800 members are LSPs and other consultants who work with institutional, non-profit, government, and private clients to remediate contaminated sites so these properties can be placed back into active and productive use. LSPs have brought over 40,000 contaminated properties into regulatory compliance since 1993.

The LSPA's mission is to:

  • Help members achieve and maintain a standard of practice commensurate with their level of responsibility in overseeing the assessment and remediation of hazardous waste disposal sites
  • Serve as the voice of the membership in communicating with MassDEP and the LSP Board of Registration
  • Act as the responsible advocate for our membership with respect to regulations, policies, and practices that affect the LSP profession
  • Serve as an educational, informational and communications resource for members and the general public
  • Provide members with a forum for timely topics and professional issues; education programs; and technical and professional information
