MassDEP’s June 2021 Waste Site Cleanup Advisory Committee Meeting

MassDEP’s Bureau of Waste Site Cleanup (BWSC) Advisory Committee meeting was held on June 24, 2021. The meeting covered several timely items; the meeting recording can be found here under June 24, 2021 Discussion Items and the meeting slides are here.

LSPA Shares January 2021 Resource Tip

The following LSPA resource tip was presented at the January 2021 Membership Meeting, which was held virtually through the Zoom webinar platform, on January 13, 2021.  

ResilientMA.org is the MA Climate Change Clearinghouse, which provides resources and tools for evaluating climate change and community resiliency.  The site also includes multi-model climate forecasts and maps developed by the Northeast Climate Adaptation Science Center at UMass Amherst (NECASC); these forecasts are one focus of the LSPA’s Climate Change Subcommittee’s on-going work.  A video tutorial for using these forecasts is here: Tutorial

LSPA Welcomes Secretary Theoharides

The LSPA leadership is planning a meeting with Kathleen Theoharides, the Commonwealth's new Secretary of Energy and Environmental Affairs.  See Governor Baker's recent announcement here.

The LSPA's President Elect Michele Paul, LSP, Director of Resilience and Environmental Stewardship for the City of New Bedford, has worked with the new Secretary on climate change and resiliency issues as part of the Municipal Vulnerability Preparedness (MVP) program.  Prior to her appointment, her Twitter handle was @ClimateKatie.
 
The LSPA looks forward to working with Secretary Theoharides in the year ahead, especially as climate change becomes more of a consideration at MCP sites.
