This course has been submitted for 4.0 DEP Regulatory continuing education credits and 4.0 non-DEP Regulatory credits. This is a repeat course, which was last offered in Fall 2022. Depending on your LSP renewal date, if you received credit then, you may be unable to receive credit for taking this course. Refer to 309 CMR 3.09(2)(c). Due to the hands-on nature of the field portion of this course, it is limited to 70 attendees. Please note: this course will be held rain or shine.

Course Description:
This course is designed to inform LSPs about their obligations under state, local, and federal wetlands protection regulatory programs, with an emphasis on the Massachusetts Wetlands Protection Regulations at 310 CMR 10.00. It will provide an introduction to wetland vegetation and hydric soils, provide a summary of Massachusetts and federal wetland regulations pertinent to the MCP, and then move into case studies of actual site situations where the MCP and wetland regulations intersected. The afternoon involves time at on-site wetlands field stations and then more classroom case studies. Course instructors include MassDEP Wetlands Program staff, an environmental attorney, and credentialed practitioners with expertise in wetland identification, evaluation and permitting.
