MassDEP's Bureau of Waste Site Cleanup Annual Program Updates and Year-in-Review

The LSPA cordially invites you to our September 2024 Kick-Off Membership Meeting on Thursday, September 12, 2024, which will be held in-person from 5:30 PM to 8:00 PM at the Doubletree Hotel in Westborough, MA. A buffet dinner and cash bar will be provided. Committee meetings will be held beginning at 5:00 PM, prior to the event.

Speaker Bios

This presentation has been approved by the LSP Board of Registration for 1.0 DEP Regulatory Credit (#1859). This is a new presentation. 

Presentation Description:

Assistant Commissioner Millie Garcia-Serrano and Acting Director of BWSC’s Policy and Program Development Division Ken Marra will identify and discuss key initiatives that will be the focus of MassDEP and Bureau of Waste Site Cleanup (BWSC) actions in the coming year and review the program’s activities over the past year.  Topics will include:

  • Implementation of the amendments to the Massachusetts Contingency Plan
  • Work at Per- and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances (PFAS) sites
  • Agency and BWSC Environmental Justice focus
  • Contaminated soil disposal
  • IT updates
  • Status of hiring/staffing, and
  • The annual review of BWSC-related measures of success.

A Q&A session will follow.
