Presentation Description:

The topic of the presentation is a natural outgrowth of the LSPA Loss Prevention Committee’s annual review of NOAFs, wherein Nature and Extent is an oft-cited category of deficiency. This presentation will provide an overview of the importance of the Conceptual Site Model (CSM) with a focus on defining disposal site boundaries; approaches to and recommendations for defining disposal site limits; challenges encountered; and legal, technical, and other factors.

This webinar will assist LSPs and add value to the LSP community by:

• Discussing the importance of a robust CSM and REDUA policy components;
• Identifying acceptable and unacceptable criteria for use at the outset of identifying disposal site boundaries;
• Emphasizing that there is no direct connection between property boundaries and disposal site boundaries;
• Addressing the complications posed by multiple releases and multiple media while defining disposal site boundaries;
• Exploring steps to take when property access is denied; and
• Explaining when it is acceptable to seek assistance from MassDEP in gaining property access.

The program will be moderated by Larry McTiernan, LSP, Chair of the LSPA Loss Prevention Committee. The last 15 minutes of the webinar will be set aside for Q & A.
