Before the presentation, the LSPA Scholarship Fund will present scholarship awards for the 2021-2022 academic year.

Presentation Description: 

This presentation will provide LSPs with an update on management options for contaminated soil in Massachusetts and beyond.  MassDEP will provide an overview of the 2030 Solid Waste Master Plan and will review solid waste management capacity in Massachusetts and the northeast region as it relates to contaminated soil management capacity.  Strategic Environmental Services, Inc. will provide an overview of current contaminated soil management options for Massachusetts waste site cleanup, including perspectives on ways to mitigate risks when planning for offsite soil management and some tips for successful soil management execution.  Considering some of the limitations on local soil management options, Heritage Environmental will provide an overview of an alternative option for soil management: rail transport of soil to regional disposal facilities.
