LSPA Introduces Compliance Tip of the Month for January 2026

The following LSPA compliance tip was introduced at the January 2026 Membership Meeting, which was held via Zoom on Thursday, January 15, 2026, from 3:45-5:00 PM.

Compliance Tip  
Under 310 CMR 40.0041(7)(h), treatment works systems must have clearly posted contact information identifying the “person to contact in the event of a malfunction in an accessible readily visible location.” In practice, this information is posted when a system is first installed, but is not always revisited during long-term system operation. Because personnel and staffing responsibilities can change over time, posted contact information should be reviewed and updated as appropriate to ensure it remains accurate and compliant.

The following LSPA practice tip was introduced at the April 2025 Membership Meeting, which was held at the LSPA Environmental Symposium in Framingham, MA, on April 15, 2025.

Practice Tip of the Month
Every LSPA member has a Profile on the LSPA website that contains information for yourself and for the public.  Your name, address, areas of specialty, foreign language proficiency, whether you are a WBE or an MBE, and other information will be available on the public-facing LSPA website under “Find an LSP.”  This is an excellent resource for someone looking to hire a practitioner.  For your own private information, your Profile page has a menu for you to access all your transactions with the LSPA, including completed registration forms and invoices.

LSPA Introduces Practice Tip of the Month for June 2023

The following LSPA practice tip was introduced at the June 2023 Membership Meeting, which was held in-person at the Westborough Doubletree hotel on June 20, 2023.  

Per 310 CMR 40.0006, Historic Fill cannot contain contaminants that are present as a result of on-site activities. If contaminants at a disposal site could potentially have originated from known historical operations or activities at the site, an LSP needs to first determine that contaminants are not from on-site activities before the contaminants can be attributed to Historic Fill.
